I have a couple of visions for my future, one of which is to become a creative director for top advertising agency (specifically a global firm). I love art and I love creativity, but to accomplish that goal I need more than just a BBA degree in Advertising. I need to take more courses in software programs like Illustrator and Dreamweaver, and more courses in design, and create a professional portfolio. I am hoping to take extra classes in FIT, but the expenses seem to be out of my reach right now, especially when our economy is going downhill. Moreover, I need to gain more experience from Ad agencies. Furthermore, earning a master degree would really help me to get a good job. These all sound time consuming and require lots of commitment, which I don't think I have as to now, with so much other burdens on my back. I could plan ahead but I am not sure I will get them all done.
If the advertising road doesn't work out, I am considerating to change to international business. I could still do so, maybe earn a double major degree or go for a master in international business. I have no idea how international business work, but I do speak a few languages and I have no problem learning different culture.
My other vision, one that need a huge capital-open a dessert restaurant, like one of those 5 stars, recommended restaurants from New York Times. I don't have much savings, and so does my family so that is not a realistic vision, yet. Maybe after I have worked for a few big companies, get a promotion, and towards my retirement years, then I could actually take action to accomplish it.
My last vision, a simple, yet seem impossible one. I always wanted to be good at Tennis, I would love to be a tennis coach or instructor one day, maybe after I retired. I used play for my high school tennis team, but I was the worst player, I have tried, and tried, just wasn't good at it. People say practice makes perfection, I seriously believed in that but it is not working out for me, not for tennis atleast. I am not giving up, but I guess the only thing I could do to reach that vision, is get more professional help, take more lessons and play as often as I could. Perhaps one day I could be a champ.

You have some very interesting visions. I especially like the one about the advertising agency. I can see that you're a very creative person. If you're not working at an advertising agency right now you should definitely try finding a job in that industry in the near future. You might start low on the totem pole but you can always work your way up to the place you really want to be. All you need is a little time and patience. And who knows they might even have a tuition reimbursement plan at that job.
I am very athletic and absolutely love sports so your vision of being good at tennis has drawn a huge appeal to me. I played volleyball ever since junior high school but stopped playing in college because it was too time consuming. Like everyone, we all start out as beginners. I first started to snowboard 7 years ago and I will never forget my first day. I was absolutely horrible and I would fall so many times that my friends begged me to stop. I'm glad I never listened to them because now I am pretty good and can definitely give them a run for their money. So what I have to say to you is, practice does make perfect and having determination and the will to give it your all will help you learn to play tennis. I tried playing tennis and must admit it is hard and I am horrible at it. But if you truly want to do this, which i think you do, you will. Your ability to keep trying and to keep playing even though you may not be as good as other people is what will help get you to see your vision become a reality and you will become good at tennis.
It is great that you have so many goals in different settings. You can see yourself being a top marketing director, opening a business, starting a restaurant, or being a tennis coach. All of these dreams are realistic. People always put dreams off due to finances, which is realistic, but if you really want something and it is planned out you can do it. I know the economy is terrible right now, but it will pick up down the road after you graduate. You say you do not have the finances right now for opening a restaurant. You are still in college and the main point is that you have a dream for doing it. Start saving now, focus on school, find a few people with the same dream, and become partners. My friend took out a loan when he was 21 and opened a restaurant with 3 people he knew. THe loan was huge and could've affected the rest of his life if it didn't work out. The point was that he took a chance on his dream and it turned out beautiful. They currently profit over $35,000 a month and he is loving it. All I am saying is that you have wonderful dreams and like the movie states, visions are only dreams if you dont act on it. In 20 years you are going to sit back and say "why didn't I try and open that restaurant, go for my MBA, or become a tennis coach." Don't let that happen!!!
I actually like your idea about the dessert restaurant with 5 stars and recommended by New York Times. This is so exciting since I am a food-lover myself and I also want to self-operated a business. In this sense, I think the food industry is good because even if the economy is going downhill, people still have to eat. I don't think that it is unrealistic dream, but I do agree that in order to make it into reality, first you need capital, saving, investment, etc. But more importantly, you can start off with a blueprint for this business. You can lay out the management plan, financial aspect, menu, the basic necessity things you need to open a restaurant. And with the plan, you can actually talk to your friends or people you know about your proposal. Maybe they will like to have a share in it and invest some $$$.
All your visions are great and interesting. I think you can succeed your goals. I worked with you when we were thinking about the new Jello products. I absolutely think that you have the creativity to achieve this!
and dessert restaurant! Sounds interesting and yummy! I hope you can achieve that goal, so I can enjoy that 5-star restaurant.
It seems like your very artistic in not only appealing to the public but in languages as well. I admire those who can speak multiple languages. I have a vision to learn more languages too but I lack the motivation. You seem to have a lot of goals set out for yourself and a lot of other things you would possibly like to pursue. I think its great to have backups.
In addition to what you said, Tennis caught my eye. I love tennis! I played with my friends every summer since senior year of high school and we go absolutely crazy sometimes. Im not into watching people play but I do anyways to learn how they play and their strategies. Other then that, I rather do the spiking and knock backs myself lols. Its good that you still pursue tennis even though you say your not so good at it. Practice does help one to become better. Im not good at it myself. But the exhilarating feeling of being out there on the court is fun. It all depends on the kind of training you are given. I learned how to play by watching other people. My friends have also given me pointers and trained me a little. Little by little, when you continue playing, you will learn to use the racket to accommodate it to your own style and motion. That’s how I learned. Not everyone is the same. Its like the idea of having a vision. Your goal is to hit the ball in a certain way so that you can reach a point near your goal within the court. You have target areas in which you want to hit and in order to achieve that goal of hitting that particular spot, you need to position yourself to obtain that goal.
You have a lot of opportunities in front of you. You can do it as long as you have a strong basis and skill based foundation. You can do anything if you set your mind to it. =D
Wow i love dessert! It seems like you have multiple visions but you kind of doubt that you can accomplish them. You have ambition and will power but you have to believe in yourself. Having the idea and vision is your first start, which you have down pack. Then getting on the road to success is your second step and your on it. Third is having the intuition and self confidence that if you set your mind to doing a particular task you will get it done and get it done well. Your a smart young lady (with several languages -pretty cool)get your feet wet, find some job or position in your field of practice and you'll see it will be a long time benefit. Good luck my dear <*>
You sound creative and interested in many different things. My only advice to you is to try to focus on one thing at a time since it seems to me you have a lot of things going on and are not 100 percent sure what you want to do in the future and that can keep you in a sort of a limbo. Just remember that anything is possible and don't let your dreams stay dreams, have courage to reach for them and make them into reality. That 5 star restaurant might seem far away but is it really because if you have talent, passion, and are in the right place at a right time anything can happen, just go for it and don't stop until you get there.
As we have seen in the film shown in class, act towards realizing your vision and you will make it happen. I think it is a great idea to create an advertising agency, and especialy with you beeing a maketing major, I think it fits you very well.
I also find it very interesting and original that you want to specialize in Art. That market is not saturated by other marketing agencies yet. It is also a great idea to use technology in Art. So good luck in opening that advertising agency in a few years.
Wow. You want to be a top advertising agent.Sounds great. Keeping yourself trained with new skills is also important thing to do to close to your dreams. You seem to have lots of desires to learn. I envy your passion. I wish I could be like you. As I get older, my desire is getting weaker. I try not to get into slump but it's really hard to.
Also, you worry about the expenses to take extra classes. I know how you feel. I was there many times but I believe in these words: if you believe something sincerely, and put efforts in it, it will come true for real. It will take time and you need ability to control yourself in balance. Someday I really want to see you as advertising agent. I wish you all the best on your dreams..Good luck.
"where there's a will, there's a way." :)
Hi, I think you really know what to do in the future. I like the way that you have a good vision and you still have a back up plan for it. It is true that everything can happen in the future, so everyone might change their job field at any time. I also like your dessert restaurant, if you open one, I will definitely go and try it just because I love sweet stuff. I also play tennis for a while, so I know how hard is to get better. But the only thing I can say is play more often and practice and practice everyday and one day you will improve and become a tennis coach.
Would love to see you opening up a five star restaurant in new york. Challege of opening up restaurant of that quality is getting a chef. Anyhow, I don't know anything about advertising but it seems interesting compare to getting cpa license. Hope you get it done.
You know I LOVE dessert, (ex: cake) just by looking at the structure, the layer, I can imagine the taste... you know, dessert actually can make an unhappy person happier? So, when you have your dessert restaurant remember to invite me!~ lolz
On the other hand, to improve your tennis skill, you might not need for professional training, although having it will help in many extent. But, in most case practice, practice, is the key. I remember when I first joined the volleyball team back in High School, I wasn't good at all. But, after practice, at least I improved, I wouldn't say I master Volleyball, but I did improved with the helps of my friends. So, practice with your friend. I know they will be happy to practice with you as long as you ask. Good Luck!~
I really like your "visions" because unlike some other ones I've read, you have made clear the actions that you must take. You are also very realistic when it comes to the valuing your actions and the risk of success or failure, especially to become a creative director. Although still far from reach, I think opening up a dessert place would be fantastic! You have a broad range of "visions" but I think one thing is clear-you seem to have a creative background. This will definitely come in handy for an advertising agency. Good luck in all your visions!
Hi, I love you goals/visions they are unique. I also share a common vision with you- as to be successful in the advertising field. Yea it seems really hard and we have a lot to learn but I think its worth it and I love how you can use your imagination and be creative with it. I wish you luck with it and I hope your visions come true!
Your creativity will take you to places. In our current world, people lack creativity, and with more people like you around, who knows what interesting and catchy events and items you can come up with. Don't lose the creativity man.
P.S tennis kicks butt
