“I’m lovin it”

So I went to McDonald after I got my second midterm back.
It was almost 7:30pm on November 26, 2008. I gave the cashier at McDonald the order I wanted after he greets me. I told him that I want exactly four pickles on my burger and a small fries with no salt. “Hamburger?” he asked with a funny look, and I replied, yes. He quickly punch in the order and was about to get the food, I quickly added, “can you print 4 pickles on the receipt?" and he said yes. After many experiences in the past with unpleasant McDonald service, I was surprised that there was no problem making this special order.
The gentleman who took my order was quiet nice, he turned around and told the guy who was preparing the food: “a hamburger with 4 pickles,” and then he went over to the fries corner and drained out the ready fried/cooked fries and shovel some into a small fries box. Then he told the employees behind him, “no salt on that one.” I gave him the bills and he gave me back change. One of the cashiers almost accidently took the unsalted fries to his customer, but the gentleman who took my order was very careful and quickly got back the fries from him. Finally, I had my fries with no salt and a hamburger with four pickles in paper bag. I checked the hamburger after I left and counted the pickles which were exactly four. I was overexcited that this adventure went so well, I didn’t realize the gentleman did not give me the receipt. I ran back and luckily the gentleman was able to print another copy of the receipt and hand it over to me.
The whole process took about 15 minutes, and I had to rush out because there were quite a number of customers waiting on line. I would give a 4 out 5 ratings to communication and coordination, and 5 to customer service. I did not run into any trouble from making the order to receiving it. I think McDonald’s service has improved a lot from the past. The customer service was quick, the employees were friendly and the order was accurate. They did not have any problem dealing with a special order like this therefore I don’t have any particular recommendations for them regarding this. If I have to pick out a problem I think it would be that they were really into fast pace performance, they neglect simple things like giving the receipts after each order. For an average customer, by passing a step like that is not very important to them. I think this is how most fast food restaurants’ employees were trained. They tend to rush the orders sometimes because they cannot keep other customers waiting with one order. I guess the gentleman just forgot to give me the receipt since I forgot to ask as well. I was satisfied overall, because the order could have been messed up during the process, but the gentleman took extra care of it and made sure that I had the right order so it was a good experience.
